nano ipod

For Christmas Jeremy and I bought each other Nano Ipods. We ordered covers but after waiting 5 months for them to arrive…we have given up. SO…..here is what I got up to this weekend.

At a local leather factory shop I got some Nappa leather off-cuts. Then: 1) Make sure one side is straight and fold this side up to cover the ipod (2). 3) Pin the sides so that it does not move.

4) Draw a 90 degree line from the bottom using either a pencil or an invisible pen. If you use an ordinary ink pen it will mark the leather. 5) Cut a strip of leather about 1cm wide. Place this strip near the top of the fold and sew along the two lines (over the strip). Remember to use a leather needle.

6) Cut the pouch out about 2mm from the sewing line. 7) Cut the flap making the two side angle inwards. This makes it easier for the flap to fit into the strip of leather sewn to hold the pouch closed.

…and it is that simple! I made a black leather pouch for Jeremy’s black ipod and a mauve leather pouch for my green ipod.
