About Me

I’m a surface designer by paper (aka textile designer or graphic artist) from Cape Town, South Africa. All kinds of design interest me which is why I have drifted over into fashion design, graphic design, a bit of industrial design and … well, they are all interesting and I love a challenge.

I have a very special hand-made South African label called Wren (which is really my excuse to make ideas materialize). I think that this is my favourite part about Wren – coming up with a new product and then ‘creating’ it. It’s not as easy as it seems but it is certainly a wonderful experience when the end product works out.

Other than managing, creating and building Wren I am a lecturer at the Design Foundation Course at the CPUT. I thoroughly enjoy this becuase it is ‘time-out’ from Wren and often the best ideas stem from sharing creative energy with others.

When I am not running around, I enjoy surf-ski paddling, canoeing, swimming and walking on the beach (*note to self: I must do these things more).

This blog is the Wren journal and personal journey to being an ‘indiepreneur’. I hope you enjoy it. If you want to find out anything more about me or Wren, please drop me an email.

    Hi!

I saw your bags on one of the site I visited. I’m not a bag person myself but my fiance is and I thought they would make a nice birthday present which is just around the corner. Have to ask though, didn’t you go to Camp at Acres of Diamond back in 2000? Because you remind me of this other person we went to camp with.

    Best wishes!

Hi, I really love your designs, writing, photos & creative spirit! I am a graphic designer living in Humble, Texas (suburb of Houston), & I can’t decide whether to order immediately or ask for my birthday! My family complains that they can never get me anything, because I get it myself….so I may make this a special bday request! Changing the subject….Many moons ago in the ’70’s, when I was a teenager…I had a hippie vest made from an Idaho potato bag….LOVED it, and wore it to shreds….but it had the same look-n-feel as your bags….Would you ever consider making retro throwback vests? (The bottom edge had loose threads twisted together to make a fringe…so cool) Anyway…I love what you are doing!!! Sincerely, Dyann Frazier Carr (I’m on Facebook)
